Three CARDZ Pokémon card packs in black, gold and silver

Provably Fair Pack Opening: What You Can Check Before and After You Open

When you open a pack online, two questions matter. Are the odds real, and does the card exist? This FAQ covers what you can check on CARDZ before you pay and after you open. It ends with steps to verify a result yourself.

If you are still choosing a site, start with How Online Pack Opening Works, and 5 Things to Check Before You Open.

Before you open

Where can I see the odds, and can they change?

On the pack page, before you pay. It shows the cards that can come out, the odds for each rarity tier and the value range of each tier. It also shows the number of draws and any minimum guarantee. The odds apply to that pack only.

Once a pack is published, its card pool and odds stay fixed. If CARDZ finds a problem with a pool or its odds, it pauses or ends that pack. Where needed, it publishes a new pack with the new odds on its page.

What does provably fair mean on CARDZ?

It means you can redo the math behind a result. CARDZ computes each draw with SHA-256 from three inputs. The server seed comes from CARDZ. The client seed comes from your browser. The nonce counts your draws and goes up by one each time.

The inputs are set before the draw, and the same inputs always give the same result. The formula and reference code are published on RNG and Verifiable Fairness.

Can I set my own client seed?

Yes. By default, your browser creates a random 32-character client seed. You can replace it with your own text. Your client seed goes into every draw, so each result depends on a value you control.

Can staff pick or change my result?

No. Staff cannot choose an individual player's result. CARDZ keeps internal controls against this and records that show results were not changed. Your card is assigned when the purchase completes. The opening animation shows a result that is already in your collection.

If I keep opening, will I get a top card?

Not necessarily. Each opening is a separate draw, and earlier results do not change later ones. The odds describe a large number of openings. Over a few openings, your results can look very different from the odds.

Will my card be worth what I paid?

It can be worth less. The pack page shows the value range for each tier, so you can see the spread before you open. If you sell a card back, the buyback offer is set at that time and has no fixed ratio. It can be much lower than what you paid.

After you open

Where does my card go?

Straight into your Backpack. It can stay there with no time limit and no storage fee. You can also convert it to Points at the buyback offer shown, or ask for the real card to be shipped.

How do I know the card is real?

CARDZ buys cards through established distribution channels, certified card shops, partner stores and private collectors. Items are inspected before listing.

A graded card's record lists the grading company, the grade and the certification number. The card you receive matches that record, and you can look the number up on the grading company's website. If the original grading or authentication company confirms that a card from CARDZ is counterfeit, CARDZ refunds the purchase price when you return it.

Can I track my shipment?

Yes. Every shipment has tracking. Cards are checked and packed before dispatch. When the parcel is handed to the carrier, you get an email with the tracking number.

CARDZ ships by FedEx International Priority, DHL Express or, in some regions, Japan Post EMS, based on the destination and parcel value. If a parcel arrives damaged, email support@cardz.game within 7 days of delivery with photos of the box and the card.

Who can use CARDZ

Can I use CARDZ where I live?

CARDZ is for people aged 18 and over. It is not available in some regions, and features and payment methods depend on your region, payment providers and carrier coverage. Using a VPN to get around a regional limit is not allowed.

What does the DefiLlama listing show?

CARDZ runs on the Sui blockchain. Its protocol revenue and activity are tracked on DefiLlama, where anyone can see the on-chain data. To check a single draw, use the steps below.

How to verify a result

You need a SHA-256 tool and a hex-to-decimal converter. Free versions run in any browser. The calculator on Windows or Mac also converts hex in Programmer mode.

  1. Before you open, note the odds for each tier on the pack page.
  2. After you open, copy the three inputs for that draw: the server seed, your client seed and the nonce. Use the unhashed server seed. The reference code takes that version. In the app, the Seed tab on the Fairness screen shows your Active Client Seed and the Active Server Seed (Hashed). If you cannot find the unhashed server seed, email support@cardz.game.
  3. Join them in this order with nothing in between: server seed, client seed, nonce. If the server seed is abc, the client seed is my-seed and the nonce is 1, you get abcmy-seed1. Real server seeds are 64 characters long.
  4. Paste that text into a SHA-256 tool. You get a 64-character code made of 0–9 and a–f. For abcmy-seed1, it starts with bf4fe40a.
  5. Take the first 8 characters and convert them from hex to decimal. bf4fe40a becomes 3,209,683,978.
  6. Divide that number by 4,294,967,296. You get a number from 0 up to, but not including, 1. Here it is 0.7473.
  7. Add up the tier odds one tier at a time. The first running total that is bigger than your number is your tier. With odds of 50%, 30% and 20%, the totals are 0.50, 0.80 and 1.00. 0.7473 is above 0.50 and below 0.80, so the result is the second tier.
  8. For an opening with several draws, repeat this for each draw. The nonce goes up by one each time.
