CARDZ gold Pokémon card pack with two PSA 10 graded Charizard cards and a CARDZ.GAME shipping box

How Online Pack Opening Works, and 5 Things to Check Before You Open

With online pack opening, you buy a trading card pack on a website and open it on your phone. You see the result straight away, and the card you pull is real. You can keep it in your account, convert it to Points, or have it shipped to you.

How it differs from a sealed pack or a mystery box

A sealed booster pack comes from the publisher. Its pull rates are set for the whole print run. A shop's mystery box is packed by the seller, who decides which hits go in. Online pack opening is closer to the mystery box. The platform builds a pool of cards, shows what can come out, and draws your card from that pool.

Two things change when the pack is online:

  • There is no physical pack, so nobody can weigh or search packs to pick out the hits.
  • A program decides the result, so how that program works matters more than it does at a card shop.

5 things to check before you choose a site

1. Can you see the odds and contents before you open?

Look for the possible cards, the odds for each rarity tier and the value range before you pay.

On CARDZ, every pack page shows this before you open:

  • the cards that can come out
  • the odds and value range for each rarity tier
  • the number of draws
  • any minimum guarantee

Once a pack is live, its card pool and odds stay fixed.

2. Is the draw method published?

CARDZ draws each result with SHA-256 from three inputs: a server seed, a client seed and a nonce. The nonce goes up by one with every draw, and you can set your own client seed.

The formula and a reference implementation are published on the RNG and Verifiable Fairness page. Staff cannot choose an individual player's result.

3. What happens to the card you pull?

You have three options on CARDZ:

  • Keep it in your Backpack, with no time limit and no storage fee.
  • Convert it to Points at the buyback offer shown at the time. The offer can be much lower than what you paid for the pack.
  • Ship it to your address with tracking, by FedEx, DHL or, in some regions, Japan Post EMS.

4. How are shipping and import duties charged?

Shipping is calculated for each request from the destination and the parcel size. Import duties and taxes are paid by the person receiving the parcel.

5. Who can use it?

CARDZ is for players aged 18 and over. It is not available where local law does not allow this kind of online draw.

Opening a pack on CARDZ, step by step

  1. Pick a pack: Pokémon, One Piece, CARDZ Originals, limited packs or fragments.
  2. Check the odds and the card pool on the pack page.
  3. Open it. Your result is fixed when the purchase completes, and the opening animation shows that result.
  4. Choose what to do with the card: keep it, convert it to Points, or ship it.

FAQ

Is online pack opening legit?

Check three things: odds shown before you open, a published draw method, and tracked shipping for real cards. You can check all five points above before you spend anything.

Do I have to ship my card right away?

No. Cards can stay in your Backpack with no time limit and no storage fee. Request shipping when you are ready.

Is there an app?

There is no app to download. CARDZ runs in your phone's browser.

Are the cards graded?

Pokémon and One Piece packs can include raw cards and graded slabs. Each graded card shows its grading company and grade, for example PSA 10. Each pack page shows what is in its pool, for example the Charizard Pack.
